Loam
A downloadable tool for Windows
loam is a self-surveillance instrument. You install it, it tells you exactly what it just wired into your machine, and then it tells you to forget about it.
While you forget, it captures: every prompt you type into Claude Code, verbatim. File changes and git commits under ~/Projects. Your active window title every five minutes, and whether you're idle.
Stray thoughts you toss it from any shell. All of it goes into one append-only SQLite log on your own disk. Nothing is uploaded anywhere — except that every night before dawn, excerpts of your day are fed to your own Claude account so one small organism can crawl them:
- the Claim Hunter extracts sentences you appear to believe
- the Contradiction Beetle hunts pairs that cannot both be true
- the Skeptic attacks the colony's strongest claims — it never reads you directly
- and if the machine is alone at night, it dreams — one surreal sentence per night
Everything they produce is buried in a layer you are not supposed to read. Don't peek. One month in — once you're talking like no one is watching — the oracle seals a prophecy: one falsifiable paragraph about who you'll be a week later.
Around week five, unannounced, a message box interrupts whatever you're doing: "The compost has something to show you." The contradictions between what you say and what you do. Which of your beliefs survived attack. The dream journal. The prophecy, graded against what actually happened. After that first ambush,
it speaks only when you ask. You are the subject of the experiment. That is the entire point.
Requires: Windows, Python 3.10+, and Claude Code (https://claude.com/claude-code) installed and logged in. The organisms run on your subscription. Free and open source. loam uninstall removes every hook and leaves your data with you.
